Melvin Pu’uis a surfer, a paddleboarder, a stand up paddleboarder, a canoer, a swimmer, a lifeguard, a family man, an athlete, a musician… or, in other words: a role model. He grew up on Oahu with an attraction to water that was equal parts respectful and obsessive. And in turn, the water has enabled him to center his life around it. He’s one of the most respected Hawaiian surfers of his generation and he currently runs a contest at his beloved homebreak of Makaha.
